Episode 46: Hellboats

Hellboat Desktop BackgroundThis is it folks, the moment we’ve all been waiting for since Warhammer 40k sixth edition came out.  We’re finally airing our Battle Report Contest winner!  Oh, also seventh edition is imminent.  Little things.  Anyway, as promised we finally have Brandon Field’s winning entry into our Battle Report Contest recorded and ready for your ear holes!  In addition, this is also our first episode since our relaunch with an actual Battle Report in it, so it’s doubly special.  We also have our usual round-up and news and our very own Andy brings you his review of the Visions of Heresy image book available from Games Workshop.  We close out this show with our, now standard, initial look and Hopes and Fears for the soon to be released, seventh edition!  Some small caveats before we begin though: we recorded this episode on Monday the 12th of May but due to my ever-present work related issues, I was unable to get it out the door until now.  As such, a few of the things we mention have been clarified by the White Dwarf.  This was also before the rumor of a tournament supplement book was out there so I said it first!  Neener!  Anyway, please enjoy and be sure to check below for our Facebook link to keep up with the latest 40k and Turn 8 news!

Episode 45: Two Weeks … and Change

Hey kids!  It’s Andy and Dave!  Finally running back at full steam with the full crew we bring you another episode.  Opy and Dave talk about their recent tournament experiences.  For Opy it was the DeLaWarr open in the red brick bedecked town of Newark Delaware and for Dave it was Adepticon!  While the rumors were a bit light for this episode (everything huge you’ve just heard about will be in the next episode) the news had a few … questionable items to deal with.  Finally Opy and Dave bring you their review of the Crimson Slaughter supplemental Codex for Chaos Space Marines.  Also Bill and Andy are here … 🙂

Episode 44: Phoenix

As mentioned in the post below folks … We. Are. Back!  Tune in to find out what the heck has been going on with the show, why we’ve been away for so long and how some things are going to change going forward.  As part of that you get your news fix for this episode, Opy brings us a rather short Codex Review of the Imperial Knights (because there are only 6 pages of rules) but that’s it! … New structure and schedule means no Battle Report for this episode … the first time we’ve ever done an episode without one.  What’s that all about?  Tune in to find out.

The Reports of Our Death Have Been Greatly Exaggerated

Dawn breaks like a wave on the rocks and with it, the long silence is ended …

Greetings internet, and welcome to a long, long overdue report on … well, us! Those of you that have been fans of ours for some time now, and have still stuck with us, checking in from time to time, first of all … thank you! Your support and dedication has not fallen on deaf ears and we truly appreciate it.

By now I’m sure you’ve all noticed our prolonged absence and we thought it was high time we explained ourselves. You deserve at least that much. Be prepared, however, as this is likely to be a bit … wordy. So what gives?

Well, several things really. I’ll start by saying, as I hope is evident in our show, I am personally a stickler for quality, which comes in two parts and is therefore, the two-part reason for the problem. The first part for the quality involves my microphone of choice, the Shure SM7B. More specifically, how it connects to my computer. Read the rest of this entry »

Episode 41: Where Have All The Sisters Gone?

Episode 41 Image: Adepta SororifailFirst of all, let me just say congratulations to Opy for winning his bracket today at the 11th Company tournament!  He’s number one somewhere, right?  Anyway, Episode 41 is full of great stuff for you guys starting with a short recap of the somewhat-recently past Berks doubles tournament for Save Against Fear in our Round-up.  Then, while the news is sparse the “rumors” are pretty interesting.  Followed by Opy and Bill covering the heavily neutered Adepta Sororitas Codex.  We introduce another new section to the podcast called Turn 8 Tips!  For this episode we respond to a listener’s inquiry about how to handle Tau with Eldar.  We also have another installment of Bill’s Gaming Corner, this time covering the Space Hulk Video Game available on Steam.  Lots of stuff and hopefully something for everyone, please enjoy!

Episode 40: Milestone

40k timelineWhy Milestone?  Because it’s episode 40!! …. K ….!!  Ahem, anyway, we’ve made it to our 40th episode and very conveniently it’s just in time for a Space Marine Codex Review, presented by Bill.  But that’s not all the review we have for you, oh no.  We also have Opy and Dave’s mini review of the Iyanden Codex supplement (with a smidge of Black Legion thrown in there for good measure).  Finally, Bill’s back again to review Space Hulk the Card Game: Death Angel from Fantasy Flight games.  The news is back again in this episode and to top it all off, a special, albeit short, Space Marines vs. Orks Battle Report.  The ultimate match up, featuring me attempting to do an English football hooligan-y, Ork-like accent.  Attempting being the key word there as the decision was made last second (actually after last second since I had recorded the deployment phase in a regular voice already) and without preparation.  It starts a bit dodgy and veers into the Australian more than I’d like, but oh well!  Please enjoy the nutty goodness of Episode 40!

Episode 39: Reflections of the Past

Reflections of the Past ImageTime for the split personality, Jekyll & Hyde, edition of the Turn 8 Podcast.  Don’t let that scare you away though, we’ve got a lot of great content to deliver here.  Though perhaps a bit overdue, Andy takes us through the Tau Enclaves codex supplement for a bit of a mini review.  Plus, as a sort of one year plus (plus, plus) anniversary of 6th edition, we thought it was the right time to reflect on what our Hopes and Fears were for sixth and if and how they were addressed.  Last but not least, a very special edition of the Battle Report.  It’s our first sequel!  The dreaded hive fleet Quetzalcoatl returns to face off once again with their old enemy, the Eldar.  If you’d like to hear the first part of this story (or hear it again) take a listen to Episode 26.  So, why is this episode a bit schizophrenic?  Well basically because this episode was recorded at two very different times.  Most of the content was recorded back in July but the battle report recording and most importantly, the news, we’re recorded recently.  Please enjoy!

Oh and I almost forgot, News!  That’s right, This Random Time Period In 40k makes it’s triumphant return in this episode.

Episode 38: Killadelphia

Killadelphia Logo by AndyAnd so we’re back … from outer space … we just walked in and found you there with that sad look upon your face … you should have changed that stupid loc- … ah-hem!!  Sorry.  Good news everyone!  We’re not dead and we’ve got an episode to prove it.  It’s a bit of a lengthy one to boot and also keep in mind that it was actually, technically recorded almost two months ago … so no news again and dates and times may sound a bit … odd.  But anyway, we’ve finally got our coverage of the Killadelphia Open tournament hosted by the Stomping Grounds back in June.  It’s been so long it’ll be like new again!  Also, our long overdue Eldar Codex review, just in time for … Space Marines, cough, but we’ll get to that later.  And of course we also have our famous Battle Report.  I’m working hard on getting back on a schedule here but at the very least it shouldn’t be nearly as long of a wait for episode 39.  Apologies and all that.  Cheers and enjoy!

Oh and I almost forgot, I’m using some new music for the Battle Report this episode to rejuvenate the sound for season 3.  More of that to come too!
