Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Review

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Review

A whole new castle to crash full of unexpected monsters and mysteries in the vein of classic Castlevania.

Bloodstained Is Brilliant – But What’s Up With The Switch Port?

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is perhaps the greatest crowd-funded game to make it to release – on PS4 and Xbox One (particularly on the enhanced consoles), it’s simply brilliant. However, all versions have their issues, culminating in some big problems for the Switch version. A patch is promised, so let’s hope the major issues can be resolved.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night review – Castlevania returns! | Cannot be Tamed

Bloodstained Ritual of the Night was developed by ArtPlay and released for all major platforms in June 2019. It is the result of a Kickstarter headed up by Koji Igarashi, who designed and produced many Castlevania games. Does this live up to the metroidvania greatness of Symphony of the Night?

I played and recorded this on XBox One, but it’s available on pretty much everything. I was given the code for this game for free from the publisher.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Review

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night reviewed by Daemon Hatfield on PlayStation 4 and PC. Also available on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

There is no shortage of good Metroidvanias these days, but Bloodstained does show that Koji Igarashi’s particular brand of “Igavania” still has teeth. Exploring the castle’s many secrets is a delight, and there is a dizzying array of weapons and powers waiting to be bent to your will. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, one of the greatest games ever made, finally has a worthy successor on consoles and now on PC.
